Area Indie Bands Compete on Radio

J-Rock and Patty the Radio Girl are making good on their promise to promote and expose home grown-talent, with three bands getting their big chance on Monday.

For those not in the know, the duo host their syndicated "Rock Solid Pressure" live from little ol' Lakeland.

First carried on KWTF in Waco, Texas (where you can still hear it 9 p.m. Mondays on www.kwtfworldwide.com), the show was recently picked up New York rockers WDYN, 100.1 FM. (It's also carried on Internet station WCRO.

On Monday's show, songs from Lakeland bands Madadam, Tug, and Made for the Silver Screen will compete for listener votes in its weekly contest for unsigned acts.

While the song plays, listeners cast votes by e-mailing RockSolidPressure@yahoo.com with "vote for (name of band)" in the subject line.

The winning group returns the following week to take on other challengers. And if it can stay on top for four weeks in a row, the band wins a package of prizes from the show's sponsors and will have its CD sent to personnel at Sony BMG, Universal Records, J Records, RCA and others.

Winners also receive a berth in the year-end Rock Solid Pressure A&R Showcase (Oct. 7th at Lillian's in Lakeland) - which will be attended by major label bigwigs.
